Glad to find a small diameter cloth covered wire

I have looked for a small diameter cloth covered wire for quite a while to use in restoring my old radios and could only find wire about 1/8 inch in dia. from other suppliers. I would save old useable wire from radios that were beyond repair. The larger wire did not look correct in most cases and I would make do with what I had. I ordered some decals from Radio Daze when I found this wire and ordered two rolls just to check it out. It works great and looks correct! I will order a complete set of all the colors on my next order. The cloth cover is loose and will slide off when you strip small lengths but it is easy to get back on the wire. Great product, thank you Radio Daze.

I purchased this product in black and red to replace the wiring to the band switch in my Philco model 89. It looks identical and forms easily to follow the same route as the original wiring. Perfect choice.

I'm restoring an old Atwater Kent radio from 1931. It uses a combination of rubber and cotton insulated wire, and the rubber wire had dried and cracking and shedding its insulation all over the place.
This wire seems just right and is good quality, the cotton insulation looks good (there's modern insulation under the cotton but is well hidden).
I bought some 18 gauge cotton wire from TubeDepot.com and it was nice, but the finish diameter of the wire was large, about 1/8" and looks out of place in this radio. I was going to buy their 20 gauge wire which might be alright but they cannot tell me what the finished diameter will be (they apparently do not want to be bothered measuring it).
Only thing is, I need several colors and don't want 25' of each color! TubeDepot let's you order by the foot but RadioDaze does not. Buying 25' of all the colors I want would add up to a lot of change for what will ultimately be a few feet of wire that I need to replace.
So, I bought 25' black and 25' white. Then I went to Michael's and bought some cloth dye in the three primary subtractive colors. I will dye the white wire to suit my needs. This way I get to mix art and science!
